I’m now well into my residency at the Park Regis Hotel, Birmingham – and enjoying every minute of it! Staff have been helpful and accommodating, on all levels! Guests have been responsive and complimentary.
I’ve been working with a variety of musicians, each one bringing something special to the night. Clive Diviney (guitarist hailing from Jamaica) and JJ Forde (keyboardist from Trinidad) have been regulars. These are two seriously talented musicians with a wealth of experience and knowledge. I’m honoured to be working with them! The percussionist Andy Mason also joined the crew and added his own eclectic flavours! Thanks Andy!
Clive Diviney & JJ Forde
We’ve a huge repertoire, and I get the chance to sing songs from a variety of genres. I’m always prepared with a set-list (see my sample set-list below) but sometimes we throw caution to the wind and ‘vibe it’! We’ve had some exceptionally great nights! Recently, Basil Gabbidon and Milton Godfrey brought their own flavours to the proceedings! What a night!
Bob Marley medley at the Park Regis Hotel, Birmingham
Our repertoire ranged from classics from Roberta Flack and Omar, to anthems by reggae greats – Bob Marley and Dennis Brown! As both Basil and Milton can hold a tune, we indulged in some beautiful vocal harmonies – sweet!!! I also had the chance to do backing vocals with Milton on Dobie Gray’s ’Drift Away’.
I’ll be joined by more great musicians and singers, over the coming weeks, including the wonderful guitarist Charles Kellyman, another serious talent!
Thanks to those who’ve supported the Park Regis music nights so far. I’m looking forward to seeing those who are still to drop by! X
